LOS ANGELES (AP) — A judge has ordered the 23-year-old son of actor Ryan O’Neal back to rehab weeks after he and his father were arrested on suspicion of drug possession.
Redmond O’Neal appeared in a Malibu courtroom Wednesday on a probation violation for a previous drug conviction.
Judge Scott Millington ordered O’Neal into a two-week detox program after he admitted he had relapsed, court records show.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — A federal judge has dismissed a libel lawsuit filed against best-selling author John Grisham and two other writers over books they wrote about the wrongful conviction of two men in a 1982 murder.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A judge on Wednesday dealt a serious but possibly temporary blow to a lawsuit filed by a celebrity magazine reporter who has accused a paparazzi agency of secretly filming Heath Ledger doing drugs in her hotel room.
Superior Court Judge John S. Wiley Jr. tentatively dismissed 11 of 12 claims filed against the agency and two photographers, saying most of the allegations lacked legal standing.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A judge says a woman accused of stalking John Cusack is competent to stand trial, but cannot represent herself.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Susan M. Speer made her ruling Wednesday afternoon based on a psychiatrist’s evaluation of Emily Leatherman. The 33-year old was arrested earlier this year outside of the actor’s home.

OCALA, Fla. (AP) — Actor Wesley Snipes must reimburse the government in prosecution costs for his tax conviction.
According to court documents, U.S. District Court Judge William Terrell Hodges ruled last week the action film star must reimburse the government about $217,000. Snipes, star of the “Blade” trilogy and “White Men Can’t Jump” among other movies, had objected to the cost.

OCALA, Fla. (AP) — Wesley Snipes will be allowed to leave the United States to work on two movies while his lawyers appeal his tax convictions.
Federal judge William Terrell Hodges on Wednesday approved the actor’s motion to travel to London and Bangkok, Thailand. Snipes will be in England about three days this month for post-production editing of “Gallowwalker,” and in Thailand for eight weeks to film “Chasing the Dragon.”

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A 25-second snippet of video showing Verne Troyer and a former girlfriend having sex that was available online over the past couple of days is all the world will see of the tape — for now.
A federal judge on Friday granted a temporary restraining order requested by Troyer’s attorneys that prevents porn distributors from taking orders for the full-length video, and prevents TMZ from broadcasting any more clips.
