LOS ANGELES (AP) — Families herded into movie theaters for another trek with stranded zoo animals as the animated sequel “Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa” led the weekend with a $63.5 million debut, according to studio estimates Sunday.

‘Dark Knight’ swings past $500 million mark

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Batman’s rich alter-ego Bruce Wayne has added half a billion dollars to his riches. “The Dark Knight” on Sunday became the second movie in Hollywood history to top $500 million at the domestic box office, raising its total to $502.4 million, according to estimates from distributor Warner Bros.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Woody Harrelson has been sued for $2.5 million by a paparazzo who accused the actor of assaulting him and breaking his video camera two years ago.
According to a lawsuit filed Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court, Josh Levine was filming Harrelson in Hollywood late one night in June 2006. He alleges the Academy Award-nominated actor choked him, broke his video camera and ordered his bodyguard to attack him.

Paramount’s “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,” the fourth film in the action-adventure series starring Harrison Ford, earned $56 million in its first two days, Media By Numbers president Paul Dergarabedian said.
