Judge rules Snipes must reimburse government

OCALA, Fla. (AP) — Actor Wesley Snipes must reimburse the government in prosecution costs for his tax conviction.

According to court documents, U.S. District Court Judge William Terrell Hodges ruled last week the action film star must reimburse the government about $217,000. Snipes, star of the “Blade” trilogy and “White Men Can’t Jump” among other movies, had objected to the cost.

Judge: Snipes can travel abroad for movies

OCALA, Fla. (AP) — Wesley Snipes will be allowed to leave the United States to work on two movies while his lawyers appeal his tax convictions.

Federal judge William Terrell Hodges on Wednesday approved the actor’s motion to travel to London and Bangkok, Thailand. Snipes will be in England about three days this month for post-production editing of “Gallowwalker,” and in Thailand for eight weeks to film “Chasing the Dragon.”

Wesley Snipes to remain free pending 3 tax convictions

OCALA, Fla. — Wesley Snipes will be allowed to remain free on bail as he appeals three federal tax convictions.

Judge William Terrell Hodges granted Snipes’ motion for bail Thursday pending appeal of his case, saying Snipes doesn’t pose a flight risk and is not a threat to the community.

The 45-year-old actor was sentenced last month to three years in prison on three misdemeanor counts of willful failure to file his income tax returns.

Snipes seeks bond as he appeals tax convictions

OCALA, Fla. — Wesley Snipes must surrender to prison authorities June 3 if he isn’t granted bail to appeal three federal tax convictions, defense lawyers said in a court filing.

Snipes’ attorneys plan to argue before the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals that the trial judge erred in several ways before and after his February conviction. U.S. District Judge William Terrell Hodges last month sentenced Snipes to three years in prison.

OCALA, Fla. — Wesley Snipes was sentenced to three years in prison on tax charges Thursday, a victory for prosecutors who sought to make an example of the action star by aggressively pursuing the maximum penalty.

Wesley Snipes faces sentencing in Florida

OCALA, Fla. — Wesley Snipes is in central Florida to learn his punishment for three misdemeanor tax convictions.

A jury found the 45-year-old action star guilty of willfully failing to file taxes for three years, in which the government said he owed $2.7 million. Snipes was acquitted in February of three identical counts and two felony charges of tax fraud and conspiracy.
